Darsena is one of the most frequented and memorable locations for locals in Milan. As a final project for the Materials and Technologies course in the Master's program in Interior Design at NABA, we were tasked with designing a public toilet that complements its context and serves the surrounding community.
Darsena, where significant canals converge and is remembered as the historical harbor of Milan; serves as a public gathering space. It's full of people who gather by the water and enjoy the sun in the summer.
Darsena Public Toilet project proposal addresses the hidden issue of Darsena, specifically the absence of pedestrian pathways, which results in a 6-minute crossing time to the opposite side of the harbor. A public toilet that also functions as a bridge, linking from tram line and an underwater path that connects both sides of the harbor, offering people a unique way to experience the water.
